Tour 3
Schopp - Johanniskreuz - Queidersbach - Schopp
The racing cycle stadium in Schopp, where tour nr. 3 begins, looks
back on a lomg cycling history. Cycling stars Udo and Hardy Boelts
began their careers here.I
In 1971 the Racing Club Schopp built the stadium and since then
international events take place each year. After 3 perfectly organized
national mountaun bike championships Schopp became a top addres
for international cross country events.
And in 1995 the German championships were held in Schopp for the
first time. Marc Hanisch and Hanka Kupfernagel won the titles that
year. Due to the selective courses, the great start and finish area
in the stadium and plenty of experts among the spectators, the small
West Palatinate village of Schopp was chosen to hold the championships
again after only 3 years. In 1998 Ralph Berner and Hedda zu Putlitz
were the winners. It was no less than Lado Fumic and Sabine Spitz
who celebrated their titles in the oval of the Eichwald stadium in
Schopp in 2002. So try the separately marked, championship-style
cross country stretch out and let your friends celebrate an imaginary
hero.......a great feeling! A public practice area will be built
below the stadium in 2006.

Stage:
Johanniskreuz - Schopp - Johanniskreuz
Mainly lonely narrow trails on the first half and then hard ascents
on the second half combined with wide paths that offer the chance
to chat make this tour a genuine classic . The stadium in Schopp
is not far from this route.
