Tour 2
Waldfischbach-Burgalben - Johanniskreuz - Waldfischbach-Burgalben.
Waldfischbach is the start of a 48 km tour, or day outing, for fit
riders through the idyllic woodland, passing through Heltersberg,
Johanniskreuz and Schmalenberg along varying narrow trails and forest
ways in untouched natural surroundings, finishing with fast downhill
stretches back to the starting point
This route is suitable for a Sunday outing with friends but also
as a training stretch for professional cyclists......several of whom
come from this area. According to the motto: “Chain on the
right and torture yourself” the pro’s can make this trip
at “easy” 20 km/h average speed.
But, to be honest: Who wants to do that?
Just enjoy the tranquility of the largest unified wooded area in
Germany - - the Palatinate Forest.

Waldfischbach-Burgalben - Heltersberg - Waldfischbach-Burgalben
This stretch provides a good introductory tour for ambitious mountain
bike fans in the bike network of the Palatinate Forest mountain bike
park. 15.8 km, 255 m of climbs combined with 18% narrow
trails will allow you to work on your technical skills. Perhaps you
will still have time to enjoy the view from the sunny“3 Felsen” (3
rocks) and regain your strength for new and bigger tasks.

Stage:
Johanniskreuz - Heltersberg - Johanniskreuz
This route starts at Johanniskreuz and goes via “Gumpels Weg” down
through the so-called “Kanonenrohr” (cannon barrel)
to the Saegmuehle camping site, whose owner is very keen on mountain
biking too.
Because of the continually alternating up and downhill paths, your
legs will feel like lead by the time you get back to the starting
point.
You should plan on a short time of relaxation and a cool drink at
one of the restaurants at Johanniskreuz!
